Learn More About the Houston Chapter

The Hydrographic Society of America (THSOA) Houston Chapter is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization committed to promoting education in offshore survey, positioning and mapping, including hydrography and related earth sciences.

Membership in The Hydrographic Society of America - Houston Chapter (THSOA-HC) is open to any individual or organization with an interest in surveying in hydrospace. No formal qualifications are required. The membership period is from January 1 through December 31.

The mission of The Hydrographic Society of America (THSOA) is to promote education in hydrography.

THSOA-HC serves as the focal point for activities in the Houston Area. The THSOA-HC membership does not include The Hydrographic Society (International) benefits or memberships. There are other local chapters in West Coast and Louisiana areas. THSOA-HC serves Houston, Texas and surrounding areas. THSOA-HC provides the following: local meetings on a regular monthly basis, a THSOA - HC Newsletter, and social activities for its members and the members of the Student Chapter of THSOA at Texas A&M Galveston and Corpus Christi.

Members of THSOA-HC are invited to attend local monthly meetings and are invited to attend its social events. While non-members are encouraged to visit the Houston Chapter meetings, persons attending on a regular basis are encouraged to join THSOA-HC in support of the chapter's efforts on behalf of the local hydrographic community.

Houston Chapter Scholarship Info

The Houston, Texas Chapter of THSOA scholarships are available to full-time first-year, second-year or later students who are currently enrolled in a Hydrographic and/or Geophysical Survey, Geomatics/Geodetic Engineering, Ocean Sciences, Survey or Systems Engineering, Electronics, Software Development, or Geographic Information Sciences (GIS).

Applicants should also demonstrate an interest in marine or offshore survey, mapping or survey and positioning in-line with the above subjects. Applicant must be a current resident of Texas or plan on attending a college in Texas.
